Huawei
announced the successful completion of the
DigiSchool 2024
project in Morocco, highlighting its contribution to ensuring equal access to digital technology for all students in the Kingdom
The Digital School project was launched in February 2024
to help prepare new generations for the demands of an increasingly interconnected world, and is part of the government’s 2022-2026 education reform roadmap. The completion of the project represents the first successful phase of a public-private partnership between the Moroccan Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports and Huawei Morocco under Huawei’s global digital inclusion initiative TECH4ALL.

“The DigiSchool project underscores the importance of enhancing digital skills and consolidating public-private partnerships as a real tool to stimulate a resilient digital ecosystem,” said David Li, General Manager of Huawei Morocco. “With this strategic partnership, Huawei is committed to continuing to invest in training and innovation, and supporting Morocco’s ambitions to provide comprehensive and high-quality digital education.” The project focuses on developing digital skills and providing training for students and teachers in technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, web development, and applications. Throughout the year, participants also had hands-on experience in robotics and programming, the opportunity to solve technical puzzles, and improve digital literacy through interactive games designed to inspire creativity and initiative.

The DigiSchool 2024 initiative was organized in four phases; The first phase provided training to 265 secondary school teachers in ICT skills across 12 regions in Morocco, while the second phase focused on providing ongoing support to trained teachers as they used these skills in the classroom with 2,650 students. In the third phase, 12 regional hackathons were organized across 12 regions in Morocco between May and November, with 714 students tasked with developing ICT solutions to overcome specific challenges. The fourth and final phase, which took place in December, included technology camps in Fez, Marrakech and Agadir. In collaboration with the regional academies of education, these camps brought together 180 students and 60 teachers from 12 regions in Morocco. These camps were designed to reinforce the ICT skills students had acquired in the classroom and at hackathons throughout the year. The teams received personalized support to improve their projects presented at the hackathons (tech innovation marathons), and to present their solutions to a panel of judges, with outstanding entries receiving prizes.
The DigiSchool 2024 initiative concluded with an evaluation tour of the camp in Agadir from December 17 to 19, with prominent delegations including Mohamed Saad Berrada, Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports; Wafaa Chaker, Director of the Regional Academy of Education and Training for the Souss-Massa region; Aida Boukrine, Regional Director of the Agadir-Ida Outanane region; and Chen Xiaolei, Vice President of Huawei Morocco.

During the tour, the students had the opportunity to showcase their new skills by presenting the solutions they developed to the delegation.
The success of the DigiSchool 2024 program supports the Moroccan government’s ongoing commitment to digitizing national education, inclusion, and equality, and sets Morocco as a regional example of leveraging technology as a means to achieve equality and progress, a goal that Huawei is also committed to supporting.
In addition to a range of education initiatives being implemented around the world under Huawei’s TECH4ALL program in collaboration with partners such as UNESCO, the Close the Gap initiative, and government ministries, Huawei is also implementing DigiSchool projects in Kenya, Senegal, South Africa, Chile, and China to connect remote schools to the Internet and enhance the digital skills of students and teachers.
