Moroccan Minister of Tourism Fatima Zahra Ammor discussed with Rao Chuan, Chinese Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, ways to enhance tourism cooperation between the two countries. This came during a meeting that brought the two parties together in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, on Friday. A statement by the Moroccan Ministry of Tourism said that the two parties stressed the importance of ties Cooperation and strategic partnership between the two countries, especially in the tourism sector.

According to the statement, the two parties expressed their mutual desire to enhance tourism cooperation between the two countries.

Amor also expressed her desire to encourage Chinese tourism investments in Morocco, in order to keep pace with the momentum witnessed by the destination, especially in light of preparations for major sporting events, according to the statement.

She called on Chinese tour operators to include Morocco more in their programs, so that Chinese tourists can discover the diversity of tourism experiences in the country, especially in the cultural, desert and beach areas.

The statement quoted the Chinese Vice Minister as saying that Morocco has become one of the favorite destinations for Chinese tourists.

He continued, according to the statement, that there are new air links between the two countries that will enhance the flow of tourists between the two destinations.

During the first five months of 2024, the ministry’s data showed a 15% increase in the number of foreign tourists visiting Morocco.

According to the ministry, the number of foreign tourists who arrived in the country reached about 5.9 million, from the beginning of this year until the end of last May.

Tourism is the second source of foreign currency in the Kingdom in 2023 after remittances from Moroccan expatriates abroad.

The tourism sector in Morocco continues to develop, as the sector’s revenues recorded $ 10 billion for the first time in 2023, after receiving 14.5 million tourists.

The Kingdom is counting on attracting 17.5 million tourists by 2026, especially as it is about to organize major sporting events and international conferences.

The most prominent of these events is hosting the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 FIFA World Cup in partnership with Spain and Portugal.
