China and Broadband Networks

SHENZHEN, China, Nov. 12, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Chifeng City, located in Inner Mongolia Province, one of the five autonomous regions of the People’s Republic of China, is known for its miles of grassy plains, winding rivers, and yurts dotting the grasslands. Despite the beauty and idyllic nature of these rural settings, although they are usually completely isolated from the outside world, the city is rarely isolated, as it has abundant access to the network. Signal bars are always full where people live, farm animals can roam freely using GPS tags, and herders can enjoy their rural life while staying connected to the outside world.

Perseverance means excellence
Last August, the region’s picturesque national forest park gained national attention thanks to its performances broadcast by the Mongolian entertainment team via the Internet. “Everything is amazing, the performers, the scenery, the music and the traditional costumes.” This left the audience deeply moved by what they saw during the live broadcast. “We often broadcast our entertainment live like this, but our performances wouldn’t be as smooth and good if there wasn’t a strong network,” said a performer who played the Horsehead Fiddle, a traditional Mongolian musical instrument. “We use China Unicom’s SIM cards, which give us the smoothest and strongest network connection.”

China Unicom in Inner Mongolia has been widely praised for its excellent network quality. Working with Huawei and other partners, the company was awarded the title of “Excellent Operator” as part of the 2022 National Assessment of Mobile Network Quality in Key Locations in the People’s Republic of China.

Inner Mongolia is geographically located on the northern border of the People’s Republic of China, stretching about 2,400 kilometers from east to west. The province’s diverse and difficult natural terrain, sparse population and insufficient transportation make it difficult to build and maintain telecommunications networks in the province. In order to achieve network coverage in as many sparsely populated areas as possible, China Unicom has deployed both macro and micro base stations that can operate effectively on the 900 MHz frequency band, said the deputy general manager of China Unicom.
